exploring our 6 senses

As Clarissa and I were making cookies this morning, I realized that we were using all 5 of our senses.

1. We were touching the cookie dough.

2. We were smelling the cookies cook.

3. We were hearing the ticking of the timer and the scraping of the beaters against the bowl.

4. We were looking at the cookies.

5. We were tasting the cookies!

I mentioned this to Clarissa, and she added a sixth sense:

6. We felt the Spirit in church this morning. One of our dance friends gave his farewell talk in church today before he leaves on his mission this week.

I enjoy cooking and baking, however, I don't always feel the motivation to do so, especially when it comes to cleaning up afterward. But since Clarissa has moved in, I've started cooking a lot more, especially with her. And it's fun! And I clean up as I go, so nothing is hanging over my head afterward, allowing me to stuff my mouth with delicious food guilt-free.

I love Sundays, because I get to take the time to feel the Spirit, and cook, and read, and spend time with my roommates and family. The Church is taking a stronger stance and really encouraging us to keep the Sabbath day holy. It is God's day after all. Should we be doing things that bring us closer to Him?

Now, I'm not the best at this by a long shot. Not even close. So, I'm setting a few goals. And they will be little ones, but that's okay. By small and simple means, remember?  So today, my goal is to read/listen/watch at least 2 general conference talks.

happy Sunday.

P.S. BYU Women's soccer started up this week! I absolutely love the women's soccer games. So, so fun.
