I should be studying...

Do what makes you feel good. Do what makes you happy.

Be who you want to be. If that means making a change, make that change.

If you want something, go for it. So much of what I have has come from me taking chance.

Be a friend. We never know who is struggling, who is swimming in sorrow so deep they feel they might drown, who is grasping at what seems like fleeting rays of happiness. One of my favorite books in middle school was by Ally Condie, Yearbook. It was about the stories of several different characters and their discovery that everyone is more than their yearbook photo. Every single person around us has a story. They have their struggles and triumphs and mistakes and feel-good moments. Look back on the golden rule - do unto others as you would have others do unto you. Follow the promptings you get. Treat everyone with kindness and love and respect.

Pay attention to the little things in life. More likely than not, the little things will mean a lot to you. In recent years, the stockings at Christmastime have become one of my favorite parts of Christmas. In my house, we fill stockings with candy and little things that the recipient likes and/or may need. It is the little things that I find myself remembering the most. Like the time my brother took one of my books to school because the author was coming and he knew that I hadn't had that book signed. Or the time my freshman roommate went on a trip to Idaho and took the time to write me little notes, clean my side of the room, and get me a chocolate bar before he left. Neither were huge things, but they meant and still mean the world to me.

Love yourself. You can't love anyone else if you don't love yourself first.

Trust God. He has a plan that will work, even if yours doesn't.
