Finding the Goodness

Ballroom competitions are extremely tiring. Even when you're not competing. For starters, I was up at 7:30 yesterday morning (on a Saturday?! I don't remember the least time I was up that early on a Saturday!), and then I was at a competition until 4:30. I was so tired that I worried I would fall asleep during the Women's General Session of conference.

Don't worry, though. The meeting was so fantastic that I couldn't fall asleep. There was so much goodness. And that's what I want to write about today.

Goodness.

There is goodness everywhere, but we have to look for it. I feel that the world focuses so much on negativity and what is going wrong. There is so much goodness though! It has to come from within ourselves though.

"Once we begin to see the divinity in ourselves, we begin to see it in others."
- Sister Rosemary M. Wixom (Primary General President)
We have to look for the goodness, we have to see the goodness, and we have to be the goodness.

I loved President Uchtdorf's talk. He opened his talk by saying something about how he feels so much better after being around the women of the Church. We have the power to be an incredible source for good. I'm pretty sure I've talked about this on here before, but I wholeheartedly believe it. And after hearing that statement from him, that is my new goal. I want to be the kind of person that people feel better, emotionally and spiritually, after being around me. I want to exude goodness.

The word itself just makes you feel better. Goodness. No wonder one of the hashtags for the Church is #sharegoodness. We all need more goodness in our lives. President Uchtdorf put it in a wonderful way - "God didn't design us to be sad." Focus on the wonders of and the miracles of life, on the wonder of even being alive. It is an incredible time to be alive. Many people have said that the world is at our fingertips. It really is. We have access to almost unlimited information. We have incredible technology. The world itself is an unbelievable miracle. So many lakes, valleys, waterfalls, mountains, beaches, flowers, animals, etc. Goodness is everywhere.

Look for it. See it. Be it.

Happy Sunday.
