Embassy Ball 2015

The BYU ballroom touring team travels to the Embassy Ball in Irvine, CA every September to compete their Latin and Ballroom medleys. Because Robbie is on the tour team, I was able to travel with them to compete. It was a tiring trip and I had to miss a day of school, but it was so fun!

Adam decided that Clarissa and I looked like true California girls with our sunglasses, ready to ride off in a convertible. Sadly, no convertible was available.

Ashley, Clarissa, and I trekked for about an hour trying to find a Panda Express that did not exist. Fortunately, we eventually found a grocery store.

Disney Ballroom Medley Rehearsal

The amazing Carli Treu was kind enough to do my hair for Amateur Ballroom on Friday night. The Friday night session was fabulous - we got to watch Riccardo and Yulia compete in (and win - duh, they're world champions!) professional Latin, as well as Pro Smooth.

Beach day at Laguna!

Some of us beach bums - Carli, Robbie, me, Clarissa, Adam, Ashley, and Ben

California reunion! The four of us came to California to compete in January.

Roommates - Ashley, me, Clarissa. And Jordan.

We played Heads Up! on the way back from the beach, and managed to convince Curt to play with us.

It was a lot of fun to compete at such a renowned competition. Unfortunately, I managed to elbow Robbie in the mouth while turning full speed during our waltz while competing in the semi-final round of Amateur American Smooth. He was a trooper and danced the rest of waltz and the next two dances with blood dripping down his chin before someone handed him a towel to wipe it off before the viennese waltz. Yikes! I felt so bad, especially when we realized that he had a hole in both sides of his lip. Stitches? Hopefully not! I was able to grab him some ice (or have someone else grab me some ice from the bar) and clean it. Partner of the year award goes to me!

Despite our little mishap, I had a great time, and am so thankful I got to travel with such a stellar group of people. 'Till next time!
